well this is my ceramic tiger, originaly intended to be a white tiger although the glaze decided otherwise. Despite the fact that it isnt really a white tiger anymore i still think it turned out pretty cool :)

stoneware and cone 10 glaze
The stripes were done with colored slip

coloured slip...? As in, slip of a different coloured clay? That's an interesting idea.... I think I might look into that, if that's the case.

yep thats it, the different colors show up really bright
the particular technique i used is called mashima where you carve out your designs then fill it with colored slip and scrape the excess off, it can create a ver nice, clean look.

That's amusing. We were just talking about graffito and mashima techniques the other day... well, rather the professor was talking to the beginner class and I was eavesdropping. XD I haven't used a mashima technique with coloured slip yet. I might see about integrating something like this into my future projects this semester. Which other clay did you use for your slip? It's extremely dark looking, and there aren't many clays I know that produce such a darkness.

lol wow. yeah its a good way to make a piece mor interesting and get cool effects with glazes. All the colored slips start with the same porcelain-like mixture and then the color is added to it some way that i forgot
